If you managed to build trust and they feel comfortable, they will easily accept to give you their name and email address and see what else you may have to offer. That’s it you just attracted a lead, successfully converted a lead to a prospect and now you may get the chance to up sell later.
Now he is in the sales funnel. Your job now is to continue to make him feel comfortable and see that he can trust you. Since he already accepted your initial offer, (mostly free or low cost) he may be open for other recommendations you can make. That’s where you slowly start marketing your upper level products, via an autoresponder.
The whole concept here is to bring the customer to the door, lead them in with a low risk or even free offer of some kind, gather all the information and build a relationship. When the customer knows you a little bit better trusts you more, you can begin to market higher level products slowly. The more he trusts you, the better you are in making a sale.
