Developing Your Team

We've all heard the saying that a champion team will beat a team of champions. Well, its true. And the reason its true is because individually, we can't be expert at everything, or even attempt to do everything.

In this type of business, this adage is so true. Sure, you're working on your own thing, that is what all these strategies are ultimately about. Nevertherless its imperative to build a team of experts around you, to help you obtain the information and excellence you need, where you would not have had the time or inclination to find it yourself.

 

As a general rule you will have to pay for this expertise. But paying for it will actually make you money where you otherwise wouldn't have, or save you money where it otherwise would have cost you. So don't be afraid to spend money on quality advice and information.

 

And as you go down this path, over time you will start to trust these experts, and then rely on them. They will become your team and do all the things you need taken care of, so you have the time to do the things you need to do, to make the money you want to make.

 

Here are some of types of people I entrust my business to, and pay good money for them to look after me.

 

  • My accountant, for all things tax and general business advice
  • My stockbroker, for research and analysis on every company I am going to invest in. I refuse to use discount stock brokers. I don't have the time to do the leg work.
  • My lawyer, for disclaimers, guaratees and for advice on anything else that may get me inhot water.
  • Property valuers, quantity surveyors and real estate agents for when I am investing in property.
  • Finance and mortgage brokers for when I need to borrow. Its amazing the products which are out there.
  • Developers and programmers, for all my more technical web development requirements.
  • Graphic artists

I could continue with this list. The point is though, if you try and do everything, its possible you'll run out of time and achieve nothing. So develop your trusted team, in the end your time is all you have.
